Exhibition opening: Abstract Expressions of the Yorkshire Landscape
June 7 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
An exhibition of abstract paintings by artist Leyla Murr that explore a meeting point of reality and abstraction inspired by the beautiful Yorkshire countryside. Leyla uses colour and texture to create abstract compositions reminiscent of landscapes.
Join us for a glass of wine at the opening night to see her work, meet the artist and discover meaning in abstract expressionism.
Leyla Murr is a Croatian born abstract artist who works from her home studio in Bingley, a larger studio space in Shipley, and from temporary studio spaces whilst she travels.
Her work is inspired by the landscape and visual memory. She enjoys the process of revealing images that live in her subconscious and colours that she’s absorbed somewhere along the way that contribute to a fusion of shades and compositions.
Her paintings are constructed by coordinating different elements, the application of paint on canvas, the use of colour and spontaneous mark making. The process is rarely planned and paintings undergo many changes until she achieves a balanced painting that feels resolved.
Free to attend but please RSVP.
The exhibition is in the Porch Gallery at Left Bank Leeds throughout June and July. Opening times are Wednesdays and Thursdays, 10am-4pm.
