JOURNEY TO ABSTRACTION
AN EXHIBITION BY RACHEL HINDS
3 AUGUST – 28 SEPTEMBER
Join the artist Rachel Hinds for a glass of wine at the opening of her exhibition, Journey to Abstraction. This exhibition showcases her experiments with the painting process. With expressive gestural brushstrokes, drips and strong colours, this series of work suggests imaginary landscapes and turbulent seas inspired by natural phenomena and British history.
The exhibition runs throughout August and September in the porch gallery at Left Bank Leeds. It is open on Wednesdays and Thursdays, 10am-4pm.
There will be a panel discussion on Thursday 7 September, 7-9pm with painter Rachel Hinds, designer Hannah Edmonds and a guest artist discussing women in art from their own experiences of their careers to date.
Rachel is a full time working artist from Brighouse in Yorkshire. Since studying archaeological sciences she has had a fascination with the past, which she describes as ‘a time when the forces of nature must have been awe inspiring and terrifying in equal measure’.
Rachel teaches painting workshops across Yorkshire and encourages her students to to take an experimental approach to art. She’s always exploring new concepts and working to create a sense of balance and harmony within her work.
This exhibition is free to attend but please register below via Eventbrite to attend the opening night and/or panel discussion, as places are limited.
