Talking Histories: Leeds Zoo
February 15 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm£5
Join us for an evening of local history as we uncover the history of Leeds Zoo in Hyde Park which opened in 1840 off Cardigan Road. The Victorians were known for their enthusiasm for exotic creatures, and so with this climate of fascination, the Leeds Zoological and Botanical Garden was created. Find out more about the ill-fated venture that only lasted eight years. Doors open at 7:30pm and the talk starts at 8pm.
It will be an informal evening with the opportunity to ask questions. The bar will be open for drinks and bar snacks. Doors open 7:30pm / talk starts 8pm.
This talk is part of a series of monthly events run by Left Bank Leeds that will explore the history of the buildings and people of Leeds. These events have been made possible with thanks to the support from Heritage Lottery Fund.
