Exhibition: INF23 by Michael Shaw
September 2 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
An event every day that begins at 10:00am, repeating until September 28, 2019
INF23 by Michael Shaw is a huge, site-specific inflatable sculpture that will weave its way through our beautiful space, filling chasms and coiling around pillars to highlight its unique features. The installation is over four metres high in places and truly needs to be seen to be believed. As well as encouraging playful exploration of our awesome Grade II* listed space, this neon-striped, organic form offers an incredible photo opportunity.
The installation is accompanied by a number of brass sculptures dotted around the space, which will mimic elements of the building’s architecture. Connect to the playful nature of the work by creating your own brass relief rubbings, which can be displayed as part of a collaborative artwork or can be taken away at your discretion.
INF23 is on show 2-28 September (10am-5pm) and coincides with the Heritage Open Days festival and the Index visual arts festival. It’s free to attend and you can simply drop in.
We’re hosting an opening event on 1 September (5-7pm) where you can take some time to experience the sheer scale of the work, meet the artist and enjoy a complimentary glass of wine.
To give this incredible installation a fitting farewell, we’re also hosting a closing party on 28 September, with DJs, drinks, artistic responses to the work and an art auction.
All money raised through this event supports Left Bank Leeds Charitable Trust, charity no. 1146734.
