Left Bank Leeds has launched the Left Bank Leeds Art Prize. This £500 prize will be awarded to an artist or collective exhibiting in the annual summer group show. Artists are invited to respond to the open call out via Curator Space to submit their work for consideration. The selection panel will choose more than 50 artists to exhibit, and then shortlist three artists who audiences will vote for.
Now in its fourth year, the popular annual summer group show invites artists to submit existing work, and this year the theme is ‘movement’.
“We’re really excited to launch the Left Bank Leeds Art Prize. This builds on the success of our previous annual summer group shows that seeks to showcase talent from across the UK and further afield. We’re very open to all mediums and interpretations of the theme and expect to see submissions of kinetic sculpture, performance pieces, painting, photography, mark-making and much more. It’s always such a varied exhibition which is what makes it so much fun to curate.” Courtney Spencer, Director.
Prior to opening the summer group show the selection panel will shortlist the works for the Left Bank Leeds Art Prize. The shortlisted artists/collectives will be announced at the Opening Event on Wed 18 July, 6-9pm (all welcome) and audience members will be able to vote for their favourite throughout the exhibition (18-21 July).
The £500 prize will be announced at the end of the exhibition.
