Volunteering: Talking series assistant

Opportunity: Talking Series Assistant

Our talking series is a monthly event where we invite local speakers to lead a talk on topics ranging from history, science, lifestyles and everything in between. Volunteers get involved by welcoming people at our box office, selling tickets or serving drinks and snacks behind the bar. You don’t need to have worked on a bar or used a till before to get involved, we’ll provide full training before you get stuck in.

You’ll have the chance to listen in whilst the event is underway and then, at the end of the event, everyone helps to clear the space and clean the bar ready for the next day. If you’re looking for skills for your CV, this is a great opportunity to gain front of house and events experience as well as developing your customer service skills.

Are you:

  • someone who loves people and is a good team player?
  • comfortable interacting with lots of different people?
  • naturally welcoming and approachable?
  • able to use initiative to problem solve (don’t worry, there will also always be a Duty Manager on site)

We’d love to hear from you. Please complete the form below to register your interest.

Volunteer commitment:

Our Talking series takes place on the last Wednesday of each month from 5.30 – 7pm.

As part of the Talking Series volunteer team you will need to arrive at 5.15 to help set up and be ready for the first guests to arrive. You should be finished by 7.45pm after helping to pack down.
