There’s not long to go until our Jubilee series of events: the Right Royal Weekender! And we’ve spoken to some of the awesome acts and creative talent in the lineup, including Jonny Strangeways.
He’s hosting Prom Night on Thursday 2nd of June — a bank holiday eve packed with great tunes we all know and love. We called him up to chat about the evening.
Hey Jonny! What have you got planned?
It’s a whole night of fun music that people want to dance to. You can expect some 90’s indie & dance, ‘80s synth pop, New Wave, one-hit-wonders and so much more! It’s tunes you’ve heard before, and always want to hear again.
We heard there will be a bit of bingo.
Yes – a 15-minute interlude of it at 8:30PM. And I’ll be bringing some Jubilee-themed prizes too!
You’ve been DJing in Leeds for a while now. Can you tell us about that?
Since about 2002, when I started my night Strangeways at Wire. I also DJ’d on Saturdays at The Faversham. Other nights include the small room at The Wendy House for a short period; I promoted over 150 gigs in Leeds between 2001-2012.
Prom is a new night for me and this one will be the first. It’s going to be a great opportunity to hang out with friends, have space to dance and enjoy a great evening. And if you want, be in bed before midnight!
Thanks Jonny! We can’t wait.
Book now for Prom; on Friday, June 2nd as part of The Right Royal Weekender at Left Bank
